Rifle Scopes NF NXS Ranging Power?

Re: NF NXS Ranging Power?

My understanding is that optimal ranging is done on 22x power. For 11x, the values are doubled (2moa elevation hashes on 22x equal 4moa on 11x).

Re: NF NXS Ranging Power?

That is the difference between FFP (First Focal Plane) you can tell you have this when you move the magnification ring the reticle will get bigger and smaller as you turn. With FFP the reticle is calibrated at all magnifications. SFP (Second Focal Plane) is where the reticle does not change in size as you turn the magnification ring, and the reticle is only calibrated at the highest magnification. So to get the proper correction using the reticle you would have to do the math for each magnification setting except the highest. Hope that helps...

Re: NF NXS Ranging Power?

22x would make your hash marks 2moa for proper ranging for the NP-R2. 11x would make them 4moa, but i would confirm that setting with a yard stick or some type of properly measured target at 100 yards.

Re: NF NXS Ranging Power?

When you zoom in on a NF 5.5-22 do you have to move your eye relief (slide your face forward or aft based on maginfication)?

Re: NF NXS Ranging Power?

The dot is placed there for a reference to mark 11x, half the magnification, so you can range with a multiple of 22. It is not the optimal mag to range with; 22x is, otherwise you must double your measurements. Note that you can also range at 5.5x, but you must quadruple your measurements.
