Ok..still pretty new to the Hide,and long range shooting. I jumped on a deal for a scope a year back from my father in law. I know that this scope was mounted but never shot. Its a 5.5-22x56 NXS Mildot / MOA turrets. This has set in my safe for over 7 months. I finally came across the one i wanted for my rem 700 and got it. My question is...how bad is that set up? Mil/Moa? he purchased new, mounted but never shot..i asked why he ordered mil/moa and he said he liked the ret. and uses moa. didnt make much sence to me, but then again im still new to long range scopes also. Any input?

Mil/mil or MOA/MOA scopes are generally considered more preferable than mil/MOA scopes, but the only "problem" you have with that scope is you'll have to convert the milrad reticle reading into MOA to dial on your turrets, and that isn't exactly difficult to do. If you don't mind that, use the scope. If you don't want to convert your adjustments then sell the scope after a few more posts. It's an excellent scope even with the mismatched reticle and turrets.

nothing wrong with a mil/moa setup, shooters have effectively used this system for many years. Until a few years ago, mil/mil wasn't an option, so currently you will hear most say you "must" have matching reticle and turrets, just learn your system and it will work for you.

Yea i called Ken..said it would be around 250 to switch turrets and add hispeed and zerostop. But i already have a new NF thats has it all, i was thinking about posting for sale after i have enough posts to do so, just not sure if anyone will be interested if its a mis match..

I use (not prefer) mil/moa scopes. It saves me a little money, and it was what I learned on. I have never had a problem with it. I also prefer the Horus reticle, so I hold over. If this is the scope that you learn on, it is not a big deal at all.

Thanks, my new NF is MOA. Thats what i want to stick with on all my rifles instead of going back and forth. Ive never used the mil/moa scope though. Seems like it would be harder since its mismatched?..
