Rifle Scopes night force reticle help!!!!!!

Re: night force reticle help!!!!!!

do you want to shoot mils or moa's?

If you're going to shoot MOA turrets, I'd suggest an NP-R1 or R2 reticle, the R1 is a variation of the R2, it is just a more refined elevation subtention.

I don't have any experience with mils in a NF scope but personally, if you're going that route, I'd stay off the mil-dot and go for the MLR.

EDIT: I do own several mil-dot scopes, just not a NF one. They're good for what they are, but having experienced the R1 reticles, I would take the NP-R1 or a similarly refined MIL based reticle any day.

Re: night force reticle help!!!!!!

Choose one for what? Is the NF scope your gonna buy the:

F1 or SFP?
Are you getting MIL or MOA turrets?
Do you know the difference between the two?
What ranges?
Are you planing to use your reticle for ranging?
Do you know what ranging is?
What are you going to be using your scope for?
Hunting
Informal Target
Benchrest
F Class
Tactical
all of the above?
none of the above?

More output, will require more imput from you.

Did you receive this training in between your last post and this one?

Re: night force reticle help!!!!!!

nope all i realy know is that 1 mil equal 3.6 inches at 100 yards and 36 in at 1000 yards but thats realy it what is the differents between mils and moa sorry if i soung retarded im just starting to get into this

Re: night force reticle help!!!!!!

Nightforce is a great choice. You will not be disappointed and they are worth every penny and more. That being said, my only recommendation is more research before you drop about $1500-$2300 on a scope. Optics FAQ here is a great start. That will explain mils vs. MOA and more...

Re: night force reticle help!!!!!!

i have been researching for about 8 months now haha i just didnt know i needed to choose between the two moa or mills haha! everyone keeps telling me to go for a r2 or r1 reticles but they seem uneeded but i dont know much about shooting over 500 yrds

Re: night force reticle help!!!!!!

You can use Mils or MOA to range a target. Around here it seems like most guys prefer Mils being that a lot are former military. God forbid I say this but I prefer MOA. There I said it. Threw myself to the wolves. May God have mercy on my soul.....

Nightforce is a great piece of glass. You will be happy with your purchase. If you are going to go MOA the NPR1 will work out a little better if you plan on using if for ranging. The NPR2 is a little less busy and if you do not plan on using it for ranging might be a better choice. It's your call. 3-15x is all you will need for a .308 at the 500 yard range especially if you are going to be just hunting and range trips for fun. Heck, that will get you out to a grand as well. I would suggest that if you go Mil you should try to get Mil Rad turrets too.

Looks like you may need some more research and you can probably find a great deal on a lightly used one in the for sale section.

+1 heading in that direction myself.

Re: night force reticle help!!!!!!

Get it! you will be glad you did.

37MOA for me to reach 1000yd, that is 3 full turns plus 7 MOA.
You will love Zerostop so much when you lost count turning it back to zero.

Plus, better re-sale value, not saying you will want to sell it.

Hope this helps~

Re: night force reticle help!!!!!!

Not sure what you mean "with what?", but if you mean the scope and accuracy of tracking, I had NF 3.5-15x with NP-R1 reticle, and zerostop, and it tracks very accurate.

Re: night force reticle help!!!!!!

I just read your other post, and many have offered good advices to you. I would put the NF on and spend more time behind the rifle. Join the SH online training, and take on any chance to go shoot with local Hide members.

I don't know your capability in shooting so I can not comment much. One thing for sure is not to spend too much money until you shoot enough and knows what you really need.

A dream rifle doesn't get your bullet to your target.

Again, just my $0.02, hope you find it helpful.
