looking at make a buy a setup this weekend and came across this seems like a good idea rings and base all in one. if you dont ever plan on moving your scope off your rifle seems like the way to go. or am i missing something Direct Mount | Nightforce Optics, Inc.

Ive always liked single piece rings and bases. One less link in chain to go bad or break.

One piece set ups are fine as long as they allow you to mount the scope correctly as you can't move the rings. If you need more or less eye relief than the mount allows then you are screwed. Also where the rings are on the tube is set as well.

Rob summed it up well. the 1 piece designs work great, but depending on your exact setup, can be limiting. A nice quality rail and rings work just as well. 6 on one hand, half dozen on teh other...your choice.

I have one of these on a 700SA. It works well but I am dealing with a pretty much factory rifle and the standard MK4 Leupold. If you had a custom or some other non-standard setup I could see the limitations, but so far I like mine....
