Re: Nightforce, Leupold, Trijicon, Leatherwood

What type of rifle are you putting it on, including caliber? What type of shooting do you intend to do with the rifle/scope, including desired ranges?

I would say Nightforce all things being equal, with the Leupold coming in a pretty distant second with the others not making the cut.

The Nightforce is far and away the most durable scope of the lot. It also has the greatest internal adjustment range for extended ranges, the best glass, choiced of reticles, etc., etc.

Letherwood scopes are truly hit and miss. I have seen and used some very nice, well put together and reliable one but I have seen an equal number of them that look as if they were put together by a blind monkey. They aren't worth the dough given the other options in your list.

The Trijicon, while having decent glass, a nice magnification range, and all of the other benefits of Trijicon optics...it truly can't compete with the NF.

If you have the $$$$ for the NF would be 1st, if not go with the Leupold

Re: Nightforce, Leupold, Trijicon, Leatherwood

I have been going down this road for the past few weeks. I did a 2 page long pro's and con's on the NF at $1500 vs Leupold at $1000 and I have found you get far more "bang for the buck" with the Nightforce, even spending the extra $500.

If you look around, the price gap isn't as bad as one might think. I sent back my Leupold Mk4 4.5-14x50 TMR ill at $1100 and picked up a NXS 3.5-15x56 MLR w/Milrad for $1300. For the $200 price difference it was really a no brainer.
Still Available

Re: Nightforce, Leupold, Trijicon, Leatherwood

If you got the money, nightforce is defintely the best option, but if you don't want to spend that much go with the leopould, stay away from the other 2, just my opinion

Re: Nightforce, Leupold, Trijicon, Leatherwood

I'm in the same boat right now. I am really set on a FFP scope so that is a big $$$ difference between the Leupold Mark 4 ER/T and a NightForce with FFP. Are there any other comparables out there in the $1300-1500 range for FFP? Although, not sure if the Leupold has zero stops???

Re: Nightforce, Leupold, Trijicon, Leatherwood

I don't know about the nightorce but I will before long as I have one on the way to mount on my 6.5 Creedmoor gas gun. I do have the Trijicon mounted on a Rem. 700 XCR Tactical LR in .223 Rem. It's a very clear scope and I have had no problems with it at all. I have the Leupold mounted on a LR-308 and it's an excellent scope also. I have only read about the Leatherwood ones though. I just can't wait till I have the NF in hand to get to try it.

Re: Nightforce, Leupold, Trijicon, Leatherwood

Gentelmen !! i am buying all 4 (FOUR) of them so i do not have to make choices, they will be used for plinking to 1,000yd. and all mounted on 16" to 20" 5.56mm Nato chambered AR-15s.

thank you all for your contributions.

Re: Nightforce, Leupold, Trijicon, Leatherwood

Vortex is comeing out with ffp on new PSD scope, sounds like pretty good scope for the money. List around 900. see VORTEX site, available april or may.

Re: Nightforce, Leupold, Trijicon, Leatherwood

Nightforce by a long stretch,if $$$ are a concern get the leupold Mk 4.Forget the other 2,much better choices than those. You MAY want to take a peek at the Weaver Tactical model out recently that is thought of rather highly.....
