I use a Trijicon Accupoint 3-9X40 on my 6.8 for hog hunting and really like it, but I have been jonesing for a NXS 2.5-10X32 for my SPRish AR which currently has an ACOG on it.

In order to get the NXS I would have to sell one of these scopes--I would prefer to keep the ACOG. So my current thought is to sell the Accupoint and keep the ACOG, switching the ACOG and NXS around between the two uppers as desired.

My question is, does anyone know how the NXS stands against the Accupoint for low light hog hunting? I know there is no comparison when it comes to long range shooting, but how is the NXS's glass when the sun gets low?

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

My 2.5-10 has only been in my possession for about 10 days now but I'm exceedingly pleased with it. It is very clear, much better than the 4x ACOG which I no longer own.

I have it on my AR15 and have used it at dusk to hit gray 6x6" plates at 500yd and I had no trouble seeing the plate against a foliage/dirt background.

It's not as bright as the 3-9x50 Zeiss that I had, but I didn't expect it to be at 32mm

I don't have any experience with the Accupoints, I can't comment further than that.

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

I have a couple 2.5-10x32s. The 32's are a little darker than my 50's and 56's but they are still pretty bright. They are brighter than my 40mm Leupolds.

You may want to consider the circle dot reticle as the NPR2 is somewhat easy to lose in the brush.

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

I have been very pleased with mine. I have it on a ar10 with the ballistic recticle and the reticle is very accurate. It is not a 5.5x22x56 but still works very good at dusk and daylight. It also works extremely good behind nightvision.

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

I have one on my 6x47 Lapua. I run the HV reticle in it...

Dedicated coyote/ hunting rig.

I have spotlighted and taken coyotes to 387 yards. Ranged with Leica BRF's.

I would highly recommend them. Been using it for over a year and haven't found one condition yet that it doesn't do just fine !

yes it is
illumination in bright day light
super wide field of view
and for me the fast focus eyepiece is invaluable

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

I love the Swaro as well, I have looked through it at least a dozen times at my local gun shop... But a little out of my price range at this moment. I also want a little more power and finer reticule for shooting groups to 500 and putting 6.8 rounds right behind a hog's ear.

bought a Swarovsky 1-6 Z6I and I am very please </div></div>

Does NXS 2.5-10x32 have illuminated reticle? If so, did you loose visualization of NXS reticle in the brush even when illuminated?

the illumination works only when its quit dim, during the day even at full power you don't see the illumination

I must have an oddball then, I have absolutely no problem seeing the illumination in the middle of the day. Unlike the rest of my NXS's where the illumination is preset and you need to open the cap and move the adjuster with a jewelers screwdriver, this scope has a 10 position knob where the parallax normally would be. Super bright in the day all the way down to levels where you'd need it for night shooting.

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

Mine is like bohem's. Very bright and visible even with bright sunshine, down to just visible in night time situations. I have the mildot reticle in mine and haven't had any issues with losing it in the brush. The only issue mine has, is the knobs get a bit mushy when it's really cold out. Other than that I'm very happy with it.

well I have 3 NF and none of them the illuminated reticle is visible in day time
may be someone on SH that has a 2.5-10x32 can give us is results....

</div></div>

I have a 2, 2.5-15's, a 5.5-22 and a 2.5-10: 4 NXS total

I'm stating my experience with all 4 of them. The 2.5-10 is a different configuration than the rest of the NXS line.

As I mentioned above, the 3 "regular" ones have a very dull illumination because they're setup for night shooting. The 2.5-10x has an illumination adjustment knob that's user adjustable at all times, it doesn't take a screwdriver to do it.

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

I have a NXS 2.5-10x32 mil-dot and also have a 3-9x40 accupoint. I haven't done any hog hunting at night, but i do a good bit of fox hunting at night. While fox hunting, most of the shots are close enough that there is no need to touch the turrets (or hold over). Because of the that, for my night hunting application i prefer the accupoint. I like the illumination better then the NXS as it is always "on" and the brightness always seems to be the correct intensity IMO. With adjustable illumination, i never seem to have it where it needs to be at the right time and always end up fooling with it when i should be concentrating on taking the shot.

ETA - I can easily see the illumination of the 2.5-10x32 NXS reticle in daylight when it is on the higher settings.

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

They both offer really good glass you will be hard pressed to say what one sees better in low light. I have used both of them.

The NF smoke the Accupoint in reliability and toughness. I personally prefer the Nightforce.

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

well I call the guy who I sold it to and he says in daylight no way he sees the reticle only at dusk he start seeing it
so I must of have a defective one
my swarovski in daylight I am able to put it so high that its to bright even in winter in snow decor I see it very clearly and its not even 75% up.....

Mine works great day or night. Many power settings.. no worries seeing it. </div></div>
will call NF tomorrow and see what they have to say

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

Thanks for all the input, I heard that the light transmission was not as good on this scope, but it sounds like it will do the trick just fine... One last question, I am near-sighted and usually have to play with optics a bit to get my eyes in focus. How does the lock ring on the Nightforce work, is it as fast as the quick adjust eyepiece?

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

I have had no problem with the setting the occular ring on the 2.5-10 and then running the power ring if I need a fast shot up close. I keep the scope on 2.5 power when hunting or shooting close ranges, this way it will focus down to about 10 feet or so. If I need the magnification for a 400yd shot, there's a much better chance that I'll need to setup and have a bit of time to prepare for it.

Re: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X32

if you are referring to the focussing of the reticle well I still have problems with my NF
if you wear glasses you will notice a difference at each shooting position since you don't look exactly from the same place on your progressive lens if you have that.....
so the reticle will be a bit fuzzy at certain position of shooting put the reticle is so fine so you will get by
but like on my Swarovski it a fast focus
much more forgiving and simple the refocus the reticle for each position...
