Nightforce Standard Duty Base

I was looking at the Nightforce Standard Duty Base. It is advertised as machined aluminum but no other information is given. I contacted Nightforce to ask what grade aluminum it is made of and was told that is proprietary information they could not share. Does anyone know what they might use?

On a side note, has anyone used this base with good results? I really like how it "flares" on the bottom giving it a little more contact surface with the receiver.

The NF are exceptionally well made. I would not sweat what specific alloy they used.
If you are contemplating using this base on a light recoiling rifle with fairly light weight scope, it will be fine. We are REAL BIG on pushing to the X-Treme series if your rifle will see hard use, exhibit more recoil or be used in any serious application.

I push for this not because of the material it is made from but because the X-Treme series has the machined recoil lip that engages the front of your ejection port to take all the shear forces away from the mounting screws.

Seekins Precision and Badger Ordnance have the same feature on their bases. It is more expensive to machine that feature than not but in many cases it is very worthwhile.

Thanks for the encouragement. I did look at those bases too. It's going on a 6.5CM bolt gun and a vortex diamondback tactical 4-14x44. So not a huge scope and not heavy recoil either so didn't think the recoil lug was necessary. Thanks again!
