Rifle Scopes Nikon Buckmaster Mil Dot Question

I have the 6-18x40 mil dot Nikon Buckmaster - I know it's a second focal plane scope. Does anyone know the correct magnification setting for proper mil reading?

12x I believe.

It's 12x for the 4.5-16x40. Not sure about the 6-18 tho

My 4.5-14 Buckmaster had it marked on the power ring.

Mine said 12Mil, thats what I used to range with and the math was correct.

Marked on the power ring as 12x on my 6-18 MD Buckmaster.

12 is correct. I called Nikon to make sure just purchased one of them along with the prostaff mildot.
