As a background, I mounted a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP scope on 30mm Medium Seekins Rings, mounted to a Seekins Picatinny Base. All of this is sitting on Remmy 700 5R milspec.
I had the the base, rings and scope mounted at my LGS and from what I gather, everything was torqued properly.
As such, when adjusting my side parallax, I hear a noticeable tightening sound from the scope when making an parallax adjustment. The sound is akin to stretching a rubber band or tightening a cap on a bottle.
I called Vortex to ask if this is a common occurrence, or normal operation for the scope. The gentleman informed me that it is possible that the rings are too tight. I'll need to find a torque wrench to re-tighten them. However, I wanted to know if anyone else had this experience before or if I'm blowing things out of proportion.
Thanks,
Ace.
