Rifle Scopes Non illuminated or illuminated reticle

Re: Non illuminated or illuminated reticle

i have it in mine, because i didnt have a choice it came illuminated. but here is my thinking when choosing a illum vs non illum. Its like a condom better to have one and not need it than to not have one and need it. Same applies to a 20 MOA base

Re: Non illuminated or illuminated reticle

I was to impatient to wait and ordered the non-lit which is what they had in. It will be here in about 2 hours so I guess that is why I say a little late now. Nice analogy...LOL

Re: Non illuminated or illuminated reticle

On a cloudy evening, even before the end of the legal hunting hours, the super thin reticle (NP-R2)of a nightforce is nigh invisible. I was very glad that the reticle was illuminated when a 400lb black bear popped up 60 yards behind me.

OK that would make you crap in your pants. Man those suckers run fast too. I had no idea until I was photographing one and he took off at the speed of a dog...

Thanks.. i guess the next scope I get will have it... I have not yet needed it so I should be good for now.

agree. Ive never used the illum on any of my scopes, but never know when i might

Re: Non illuminated or illuminated reticle

Illuminated, no doubt. I do a bit of night time deer culling on depredation tags, and could not get by without it. Makes a doubtful shot certain. For target shooting, not really an issue.
