new to precision rifle, and brand new to reloading,
need some help deciding which powder to use for what
want to reload 308, and 6.5 creedmoore

its kinda a hodgepodge , but I bought what I could, before it was all gone

10,000 Winchester large rifle primers
hundreds of once fired brass per caliber

6.5 bullets
---1,000 berger hybrid 140's
---1,000 smk 144's

308 bullets
---800 smk 175's
---300 Hornady eld-m's

powder
10 lbs of cfe-223...........bought for 308,
8 lbs Hornady superformance...........bought for 6.5

5 lbs imr 4166........bought for 308,
4 lbs imr 4064........bought for 308,

2 lbs 2150.................bought for ??????
2 lbs was Winchester 748 ball..........bought for 308???,
1 lb varget

wish I had ideal powder for 6.5, like 4350
barring that, I wish I had more, of fewer powders

trying to maximize number of consistent rounds, per caliber

Well i cant offer you any advice on the 6.5CM , but W748 works good in the 223 Remington
I know that CFE-223 was designed for the 223 Remington , IMR-4064 works great in the 308 Winchester with the Sierra 175 Gr HPBT MK .

You have lots of powder that will work in 223 and 308.
2015 is a good 223 with lighter bullets up to 50-55Gn powder.
You could possibly trade some of those popular 223 powders for H4350 or R16.

If you have the time, keep an eye on powdervalleyinc.com, hodgdon's website, and natchezss. If you'll take a look three or four times a day for just a couple minutes, you'll be able to find a powder for your 6.5 and it won't break the bank. We've purchased over 100lbs of powder for ourselves, friends, and family over the last month and most of it has come from powder valley. If you're somewhere near Western Montana or Southern Illinois and you don't have any luck, PM me and we can work out a trade.

I would definitely start with 4064 for the .308 since it's almost a replacement for Varget. I tried CFE223 in my 308 once and couldn't get low SD/ES numbers for some reason. I also found it to be temperature sensitive which I didn't like. No experience with the other powders you have for the 6.5 since all I've ever used is H4350 with great results.
