Norma 143 6.5cm ammo?

Just shot 80 rounds of Norma 6.5 PRC 143 GTX yesterday over the Magnetospeed. I concur with the statement of soft brass, but quite disappointed about the velocities and overall performance. I only shot one 5 round group, and 3 round group during initial zero, but also had pretty heavy mirage which definitely influenced the group size.

Engaging 66% IPSCs out 800 was easy and consistent, however, after 1100, vertical dispersion caused a lot of misses, about 20% hit rate with the targets from 1000 to 1400 on full size IPSCs.

Rifle: AXSR 24" Proof CF 6.5 PRC' 1:7.5", TBAC Ultra 7
Avg MV: 2803
SD: 20.3
ES: 104
0.75 MOA 5 round group
0.63 MOA 3 round group

What trued BC did you end up with?

I used the .321 G7, and the AB results were accurate to 800m, however, it was difficult to determine a precise elevation adjustment at the extended ranges because of the vertical dispersion. 800m is still Mach 1.5, it wasnt going transonic till 1170m; at that distance, hits were not consistent enough to be able to adjust the BC if needed.

I have not gotten around to shooting any Norma prc sorry ... hiccup in new gun... bow hunting .. etc... won’t shoot till spring prob... surgery went well... shoulder .. had 2 things torn for 15 ish years.. decided to fix... doc warned me to go slow... tore again playing Pickelball 6 weeks after... so back where I was almost... tore in slightly different place... so a few angles are good again.. but still tore... worst pain before was putting on seat belt... can do that now... but other angles very painful.... I read good things about Norma Ammo... I also bought into some of the 6mm 107’s... shooting the Sierra 107 and Norma ...on my little range that goes to 300... the Norma are about 3/4 high at 300 compared to Sierra ... shooting 87 v max now as into coyote time... tired of dogs walk n off with match bullets... will take prc and Norma 143 to niabrira Nebraska this spring and should get some good info shooting with heartland precision again.. as these guys are the ones that have helped me shooting tremendously... wish all a happy and safe holiday season.

I have shot close to 600 rounds of 6.5 PRC GT Match ammo and have much better results than the folks above. My gun seems to really like it with consitant 5 shot groups under .5" at 100 yards. Chrono speeds over the magnito speed and labradar are around 2955-3000 out of a 26" CF Bartlein.

10 shot strings are typically showing ES of 29-45 with SDs around 10-11. Good but not great for factory ammo. This is the same or a little better than what i see out of Hornady ELD-m/x

On occasion i see deformed tips on the bullets and/or watermarks on them. I typically do not include those rounds in the chrono strings. In all 600 rounds i have probably caught 4 deformed tips.

I have trued out my BC to .276 when i was seeing velocities of 2955 @ 1000. I have since cleaned the gun and chamber and am seeing velocities now in the 2977 range. I have not trued to this velocity yet.

I just sent the ammo off to Hornady to run in their 4DOF program.

I am taking the ammo carribou hunting in August and will post the results.

The biggest problem i have with them is that they are still not available to purchase as a stand alone component. I have 600 peices of brass but no bullets to re-load.

That is the lowest ball coefficient I’ve seen on these bullets... but if that is what works in your gun... think I was at .299..... I ended up switching over to 135 A tips before I got enough data on these 143 to share. Been working an older 243 lately and just have not been shooting as much lately... some health issues hindering..
