Developed from the popularity of the widely successful 3 Hole Shroud, the Norotos 1 Hole Shroud was designed to meet the requests of operators who desired the same functionality in a single hole compatible shroud. The 1 Hole Variant has a slightly different profile from its counterpart. It is designed to optimally distribute force over a wide area of the helmet surface while maintaining stability from a single attachment point. The back side of the shroud features a built in gasket that creates a compression effect. The rubber material grips the surface of the helmet, keeping the shroud from rotating and also adapts it to the slight surface variances between helmet types and shell sizes.
The Norotos 1 Hole Shroud is very simple and utilizes Norotos’ proprietary shroud interface. This system operates differently from the standard interface, but is much lower profile and contains the release mechanism in the shroud rather than the mount. This keeps things streamlined and does away with protruding levers that can be snagged during high intensity operations, inadvertently dumping the optic from the helmet. The release mechanism is simple and intuitive.
The 1 Hole Shroud is secure and operationally sound. The unit itself is extremely low profile with no sharp edges to snag risers during airborne ops. In fact, unless it goes against your SOP, the shroud does not need to be taped for a jump. Although it requires a proprietary interface for the mount, current standard issue USGI Rhino Arms can be retrofitted with Norotos 2 Hole Titanium Conversion Plates to easily work with this unit (a logistical bonus because it will allow your unit to replace their old, worn out or broken MICH or PASGT Plates without having to invest in an entirely new system). Norotos Universal Shroud</span>
The Norotos Universal Shroud is the latest refinement to one of the most widely-recognized NVG helmet shrouds in service with US Special Operations Forces today. Norotos has been working closely with troops to develop a state-of-the-art NVG mount solution that addresses the realities of modern warfare. The unmistakable Universal Shroud is the product of this design effort and delivers exactly what its name implies. It is compatible with nearly all helmets in use by the DOD (including, but not limited to MICH/ACH, CVC, PASGT, FAST, PRO-TECH, A-Alpha) and will hard mount to those drilled for either the standard single hole or MARSOC/WARCOM three hole patterns. Non-drilled helmets are not a problem because the Universal Shroud can be coupled with the optional Norotos Strap Assembly.
The Norotos Universal Shroud helps to reduce goggle-to-helmet wobble with its built-in Advanced Stability Management System. Starting with the back side of the shroud, an affixed gasket runs the perimeter of the unit’s unique curvature and creates a compression effect when the shroud is tightened down to the helmet. It also helps the shroud adapt to the slight changes in surface geometry between helmet designs and shell sizes. The front face of the shroud has four high endurance rubber shock absorbers that compress between the shroud and NVG mount. A specially designed tether plug on the shroud surface allows the operator to affix a length of 550 cord between the NVG optic and the shroud. This important feature helps insure the retention of valuable equipment if it becomes disengaged during a drama. The plug can be freed from the shroud under high pressure for individual safety or storage of an NVG.
We are very impressed with the Norotos Universal Shroud. It lives up to its name in every regard and is one of the most user-friendly and easy to install shrouds we have used. More than that, it is secure and operationally sound. The unit itself is extremely low profile with no sharp edges to snag risers during airborne ops. The interface mates with the standard issue USGI Rhino Arm mounting bracket which is a logistical bonus because it will allow your unit to replace their old, worn out or broken MICH or PASGT Plates without having to invest in an entirely new system. It will also take the Norotos AKA2 or INVG Mounts right out of the box. Other Norotos mounts can be adapted to fit using Norotos-manufactured Shroud-to-Bracket kits. We noticed that the Universal Shroud takes more force to secure and release the mount than a standard MICH Plate. But, once the mount is secured, it is extremely solid.

<span style="font-weight: bold">Norotos AKA2 Mount</span>
The AKA2 Night Vision Mount from Norotos, is precision manufactured from billet aluminum to be one of the strongest mounts available. The AKA2 features a host of design attributes including a modular assembly, tight machining tolerances, and extreme adjustability. The AKA2 comes with two separate NVG mount interfaces. The first one is the familiar bayonet design that will accept a standard PVS-7 goggle or PVS-14 with installed J-Arm. The second is a precision dovetail interface that accept the PVS-15, PVS-18, and PVS-21. These modular interfaces are quickly and easily interchangeable in the field with no tools. An ingenious spring-loaded captured pin is pushed up from the bottom of the fore/aft adjustment rail and rotated to remain locked upright, allowing the interface module to slide off and be replaced. When the pin is rotated back, it locks down with a positive click and secures the interface module to the rail. The Fore/Aft Adjustment Rail is another unique feature. Instead of using teeth to create individual lock points, the rail is completely smooth, allowing for infinite lock positions. The interface module has a twist key on the outside that rotates to clamp it into position on the rail. Norotos has developed a twist knob for vertical adjustment of the mount. This feature is present on all their mounts and is very easy to use in the field when the unit is mounted on your head and you cannot see what you are doing. Because the knob is isolated on top of the mount, you can very quickly find it in the dark and actuate it while using gloves.
The AKA2 is a revolutionary mount that has the most versatility we have seen to date. When you hold this mount in your hand, you can feel the quality and really gain a respect for the craftsmanship. This is one solid mount. The adjustments are tight and precise. When wearing NVG’s on your helmet, intuitive design becomes extremely important. Adjustment is very good in theory, but there is a tradeoff in complication. If I cannot decipher how the thing works or end up performing one function when I meant to do something else because controls are placed too close together, I am not happy. That said, the control points on the AKA2 are very intuitive and ergonomic. The vertical adjustment is particularly impressive. The location for the flip-up mechanism is handy and protected, so it will not release unexpectedly from an impact. The flip-up arm has three positive stops: the first places the NVG’s in front of your eyes, the second cantilevers them away from your face and in front of the helmet, and the third places them above the helmet. The fore/aft adjustment paddle has a positive over-center actuation that feels very sturdy. It takes a substantial amount of added force without binding. The AKA2 is increasingly modular with its swap-able back plate. Norotos manufactures several different back plates that interface with the most common NVG Helmet Shrouds in use and on the market. These plates are replaceable with a screwdriver and allow you to attach the AKA2 to a standard USGI Helmet Plate or the Norotos Proprietary foot print. The AKA2 mates up very securely to a shroud with no detectable wobble. On top of all that, it is available in anodized black or the ever-popular tan.

The Norotos Improved Night Vision Goggle Helmet Mount Assembly (INVG-HMA) is a radical new approach to NVG mounts. It is unlike any other mount on the market and represents a huge technological leap forward. The INVG-HMA is a precision machined NVG mount that uses a single tri-lobe rail to interface with the goggle. This design feature benefits the user in several ways. First, it presents a stronger, more stable platform that can better survive impacts without damage. Because the interface module moves on a single rail, there is no chance of binding if the mount takes a hit from one side. Second, the entire rail member can rotate 360 degrees. This allows you to quickly switch between right and left eye dominance when using a monocular, without removing the optic from the mount. It also allows you to swivel the NVG up in front of the helmet for quick storage. The INVG arm uses a Force-To-Overcome mechanism for flip-up storage. This means the user has to manually force the arm up into the stowed position. The benefit of this is that it will better absorb an impact to the unit by collapsing into the stowed position rather than rigidly locking the NVG in place and making is susceptible to damage. It also allows for a gross-motion operation rather than a fine-tune motion to actuate. This can be a bonus to the operator in tactical situations where the NVG’s need to be quickly moved out of the way. When in the upright position, the INVG arm stows the goggles within the helmet’s footprint, helping to protect them from impact and damage. One thing to note is that the INVG does not make use of an auto-shutoff mechanism. The NVG interface module is a dovetail, so it will readily accept the PVS-15, 18, 21, and 7A/C. It will accept a PVS-14 with the Norotos Dual Dovetail Adapter. Like other Norotos dovetail features, the INVG is cross-compatible with Wilcox Industries dovetail interfaces.
