Gunsmithing Norrell removal

Re: Norrell removal

Assuming it is not the baked on stuff, I would think mek is the best bet. I really
think sanding and painting over it is a better idea. I've airbrushed a few damaged
scopes and they turn out pretty nice, albeit not as durable.

Re: Norrell removal

I just tried Gumout brand carb cleaner and EZ carb cleaner, both were sitting on my shelf and both took air cured norrells right off without a problem. They did not touch the heat cured version. The best bet is that is is air cured since nobody should bake an optic but you never know.

Re: Norrell removal

The Air dry stuff is pretty dull, but I have a buddy that can attest to the fact there isnt much out there that will take the baked on stuff off! He tried all kinda cleaners, strippers, and what not ended up having to use a sandblaster to get the green off (pistol had light stampings). I asked John once in an E-mail if there were any known products that will remove the baked on product. He said if I could find it he would give me a free gallon, That was a few years ago.
