Ive only seen the aurora once, in northern Montana, and then it was minimal but impressive. I have a friend who used to live in Barrow Alaska and she says it could be take your breath away stunning. Id love to see it like that but I hate the cold too much to go that far north.

I saw it once, years ago from right here in Southern VA. That must have been one Hell of a solar storm.

I have seen it many times. There has been quite a few 'minimal' appearances, some 'nice' shows, and a few 'spectacular' displays. But in all my years, (~50) there has only been that 'one' particular show that was a cross between indescribable and impossible. Definitely defines the word "phenomenon".
