I was given a brand new R700 for my birthday and I am not sure what to run through it. It will be used between 500 and 700 yards but the catch is that I dont have any reloadin equipment. Is there any factory ammo that would be reccomended?

Corbon is great. Not sure if it qualifies as "factory" per se. Not cheap, but if you are into eliminating variables like most of us to reduce the chance of something going wrong, it is peace of mind insurance.

I reload, but it is always good to know what factory ammo shoots best in your rifle. You never know when Mr. Murphy is going to show up as a hunting partner.

Why chance a $5000 hunt on a few dollars difference on your ammo?

hey if you can try to find something in a 208/210gn bullet.both are shooting really good out of my 5R 300wm.and useing brass that really needed to be trashed the other day I was able to put 20 in a 1.5 inch group at 300.so think the 208/210 choice is a really good choice.both have really good BC's and buck the wind great.

thanks for the help guys, I will pick up a couple boxes and see how I do. With the right glass and enough time, could this be a 1k rifle? And Chad, How would that work, would I send you the rifle and then you work a load for it or what?

Yes, that is one option. I also have a good load with the 190 Sierra Matchking. It shoots very well in many different 300WM's we've tried. The 208/210 bullets are a little seating depth tolerant, and I haven't experimented enough with them in various rifles. I still shoot the 190 SMK in my 300WM, since it shoots so well. The BC is ok, and is not as seating depth sensitive. The 208/210 options have a very good BC and can be pushed pretty fast.

I'm new to loading the 300wm and all my experience has been with the 220gr smks. At least in my own rifle, it seems very sensitive to seating depth. .030 off the rifling, it shoots like crap but, .010 off the rifling, bullets fly all through the same hole.

Does anyone know if that's normal for this bullet?

I will have to see what the boss (my dad) wants to do. I wouldnt be opposed to it, but at the same time I wouldnt mind learning how to reload. If I dont send it down there, would I be able to order the couple different flavors that you mentioned and go from there?
