Rifle Scopes NV/Thermal on Large Caliber Rifles

There are some very good Gen 3 NV and thermal weapons scopes out there available to the general shooting community; but limitations on use due to recoil forces on larger (i.e. 338 Lapua Magnum or higher) caliber rifles, especially on the FLIR/Thermal side of things. What has been your experience on NV and/or Thermal on such systems? Is there a way to mitigate impact of actual recoil via mounting systems that would minimize the shock imparted to the scope? These are pretty good and are rated up to .50 cal:

For thermal, used the large version of this on .50 cals http://www.raytheon.com/capabilities/products/tws/

I am no way an expert just some examples of what I used that was for the big bore stuff.

I must be blind because no where on that cut sheet or their website can I find what the native resolution of the microbolometer (sensor) is for either of those models?
