NX8 4x32 Elevation Adjustments

I have been looking for an all around scope for hunting and sport shooting and I am going back and forth between and ATACR and the NX8 series for my 308 (currently have a 20 MOA base) and my new build for 300PRC (not complete). While I like the ATACR I had to take weight into consideration and after getting behind the NX8, personally the difference in glass, eye box, or parallax did not effect me. After settling on the NX8 4x32 I noticed that the elevation adjustment in mils is 26. Has anyone run into an issue running out of elevation adjust room with the turrets and having to use the holds in the reticles? This is my only hold up so any info would be helpful. Hunting ranges 100-650: Sport shooting 308 400-1200. 300 PRC 600-2000.

Thank you!

20 MOA base is 5.8ish mils.

26mils / 2 = 13 + 5.8 is 18.8mils of up if it doesn’t use any elevation for zeroing.

Ballistic calculator will tell you how much up you need for your particular guns and environmentals.

hunting would be no issue
308 to 1200 no issue

300 PRC based on 230 hybrid at 2800. 27mils to 2000 at sealevel. 22mil at 5000 elevation

a razor gen 3 with 36 mils adjustment available needs 40-50moa of cant to not hold over at sea level

you should, in theory, be fine running an NX8 with 40moa between rail/mount. 13+40moa (11.6mil) leaves ~1-2mil

Sorta, it depends on load and environmental’s, may not be enough for 1200 with a slow load in low DA.

175 SMK at 2550fps, with a 0 DA for example.
i calculated it at -1000 DA and it was 17ish with a 175 OTM and 20ish with a 168SMK both at 2550

Just over 18 here, trued data to 1000. Shot in a lot of 0 to -2000da.

Right on the edge is all, wouldn’t bet on not running out of turret with the NX8 and 20moa base.

yup agreed. shooting well below 0 DA is common in New England

i think a 30/40moa cant is what OP is going to want, depending on location. and also might want to consider separate lightweight rings for hunting and a 20moa mount for the 308/PRC

Thank you all for your input! I put this into my ballistic calculator and see where everyone is getting at. I do not have my loads developed since I do not have my 300PRC built so I used a standard factory load. My 308 is a little bit quicker at average velocity of 2635fps . DA is 328 where I am located so there was not much of a difference.

Thanks again!

My NX-8 had a total travel of 28.8 mil. Common with a lot scope's to have a greater range of travel than specified.

That’s pretty impressive out of a 30mm tube. Is it on the 4-32 ?
