"AI" Mag for "short action" actually could describe three magazines made my Accuracy Intentional.

Are you talking about a:

AICS Magazine
AE Magazine or
AW Magazine

?? Each allows for a different OAL.

2.87" will fit in the mag, but since I don't have a AI Chassis I don't know if it will feed.

For my AI mags in my AICS-equipped Rem 700 Action in .308 I'm loading to 2.850" COAL. It's about as long as you can go for this setup without hiccups.
That's my $.02 - worthe everything you've paid for it!

I load out to 2.9XX" in my double stack, double feed AIAW magazines. The XX is because I aim for 2.900" but do get some fluctuations in the overall length.
