id like to get everyones thoughts on my OCW target. I usually do the ladder test, but have not had time during the day, so these were shot in my ranges 100 yard tunnel.

i felt like i was fighting the POS xmark pro trigger shooting these, so im not sure what the fuck happened with some if the groups.

anyways the targets are labeled 1-9 with charge weights 44-48

the numbers listed indicate how low and right the center of the group was from the POA

105 amax h1000 fed match magnum primers .01 off lands

quickload says i should be on a node at 45.7 and 47.6

I went out and shot 46.7 to 48.2 had a few that I ended up shooting a 4th shot cause I felt like I pulled one. Not sure how to interpret 48.2 but to me it looks like 47.6 the ocw.

Im far from being an xpert..but looks like 8 &9...same p.o.i...no vertical dispersion...try those again...then try seating depth changes..my 2. Cents..

I have two nodes I shoot with using win brass, H1000 and 105's. 46.0 gr and 47.5grs. Both shoot really well. QL is real close to my nodes. It looks like you were testing using .5grs in steps? You want to use 1% of charge to the next charge.

1% increments were about .5 grains. my scale cant measure in exact 1% increments.

Yeah your right, I think .5gr is to much jump between. I would have gone with .3 or .4 grs, you'll see a little better results in ocw.

I would retest target 5 thru 9.

Re: OCW target 105 amax h1000

I like #5 especially since you said you are fighting with the trigger and it should be 46g, I am assuming you are shooting a 243 and since you said “x-mark” I assume a factory Remington. I will tell you my node in my Remington varmint 243 is 45.9 of H1000 with both a-max and berger vlds both 105 grains.

Numbers 1, 5 and 7 look promising. Sometimes a lot of horizontal shift can mean it's on a scatter node and not just a lot of wind change so you might want to look at trying those three loads again, 2 groups of 3 so you can rule out shooter error as much as possible.

Re: OCW target 105 amax h1000

Call me nuts, but I would say the node is the load on target 8. Take those loads, between T7 and T9, narrow the charge weights and redo the test. You should find a happy zone in there.
Then follow up with seating depth testing.

Re: OCW target 105 amax h1000

I will agree with you on 47.6grs as ocw. 47.3, 47.6, and 47.9 share same poi. Now load some up with 47.6grs. .015".020",.025",.030" and retest. I betting .020" will be the winner, that my guess. Thanks for sharing.

Re: OCW target 105 amax h1000

Trail, I think you are spot on. Load 47.3, 47.6, 47.9 at different seating depths
