It’s like an old dirty bastard. Stock has been around a few times. Chips, scratches, ghetto recoil pad the previous owner done to adjust length of pull. Action had bedding compound on it when I got it from the guy who parted a rifle out on here. Thankfully it came off easy. Timney trigger has been in 4 or 5 different rifles and the list goes on. Scope and Barrel is new though… lol.

I put this together in the garage with a Excaliber Prefit from Crown Ridge Barrel Works chambered in 6.5. I knew the barrel would be GTG because I’ve had several of them and they all just shoot. Scope, yeah, it would be fine as well. After a 150 rounds of paper punching, I put this thing on a chrono with 4350 and 147 ELDM’s. I’m not a speed junkie so I knew they wouldn’t be real fast with the loads I was running. Following a 10 shot Satrerlee test, I found a node that shot within 2 FPS over 3 powder charges. Loaded in the middle and chrono gave me 2723 with a SD of 4.3 and ES of 12 over 10 rounds. Loaded 20 up at different seating depths and found the one the rifle seem to like, which was 41.3 grains of 4350 off 30 thou.

Took the rifle to a friends farm and shot a 6 shot string at 800 yards to true MV. The six shots are what’s in the picture. I’m no Goodnight Robicheaux by a long shot, but on this day, the rifle laid down a 3.25” five shot group at 800 if you take out the cold bore. MV trued out at 2705. Think I’m gonna just leave it alone. Like the title says, this was probably a fluke, but I’m gonna see if that’s the case in a few days when I can get back over there.
