Odd 308 13.5" Velocity Results

Just got back from the range and my LMT MWS with a 13.7" SS barrel was showing 2496fps on the magentospeed. This checked out in drop when running out to distance. Does that seem right? Was expecting closer to 2350-2400 on a good day.

To be honest, that seems higher then what I would expect. Maybe your LMT MWS has a tight bore. ( ? )

I haven't chrono'd anything out of my 14.5" , but I am basing my thoughts on this barrel cut down article.

I was going to post that same article, as well as cross-reference a .308 specific internal ballistics engine.

PPU states that their mv is 2610fps on the box from a 24” barrel I believe.

Were you shooting suppressed and what was the temperature outside when you were shooting?

What does your brass look like?

That seems a little fast, but my guess is a hot load from PPU. I am running 147gr ball ammo through a 13.5" Ballistic Advantage barrel and getting about 2500fps.

168gr FGMM ran at 2341fps from my 12.5" Ranier Ultra Match barrel, while suppressed with an SDN-6, FWIW.

Not apples to apples, as it's an inch shorter, but a 168gr factory load nonetheless.

I get 2418 out of the 147gr PPU from my 11.5" barrel.

168 GMM is 2343 and 175 GMM is 2260 out of the same gun.

My mk214 was something like that. Really miss that rifle it was a great carbine.
