In reference to the 4-16x42, how do they come up with the x42 since the diameter is 50 mm according to the spec sheet? Just curious since all of my camera filters are diameter specific to the outside of the lens.
Well that is what I thought but was stuck on the spec sheet for the 4-16x42 which states the diameter is 50mm. The specs for the 4-16x50 state the diameter is 57mm, and 62 mm for the x56 scope? So is S&B incorrect in all of the specs? To my knowledge a German mm is the same as an English mm!

<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">"42mm"</span></span> is the diameter of the Objective Lens itself. "Sunshade"s' and "ARD"'s are normally sized the same as the Objective Diameter - so you need a <span style="font-weight: bold">42mm</span> Sunshade (or ARD if you want) for a 42mm PMII.
The <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">"50mm"</span></span> you're referring to is the O.D. (Outside Diameter) of the Objective "Bell" on the 4-16X42mm PMIIs'.
it's the objective lens versus overall diameter. All scopes are larger overall than their X-X x "Y" - My pst is a 2.5-10 x 44. The outside diameter of the scope is 50mm.
looks like someone smarter than me beat me to the post!
