My new 300 win mag has a 2.886" bto with an oal of 3.51" when using 190g SMK's to the lands. Thats seems to be quite a jump for any factory ammo thats sized to 3.34". Any thoughts??

If im reading this right, your saying that the 190 smk load you are referring measuring 3.34” overall on your gun jumps .170”

Different bullet profiles end up with different OALs.
VLD style bullets will usually end up much longer than a traditional hunting style bullet.
