One way even a new enthusiast can tell quickly is the price difference in the same distiller.

Bourbon is more of a refined, acquired taste. Not to say it is better for your personal tastes.

Tastes change as you age and I am trying some bourbon from my favorite whiskey distiller.
It is now starting to taste good.

Go figure I only liked whiskey for the last 40 years.

If you are mixing it with anything except ice don't bother get good whiskey.
