Just plinking with my dad growing up really lol. Always been into guns, always wanted to get into uspsa or 3-gun also but I work 80+ hr weeks so finding one scheduled on days off can be conflicting.
I'm an old Source fanboy, so I definitely love the old AI L96, as for myself my only long range rifle ATM is a Savage 10pt-sr that I plan to do something with.

Welcome to party! I lived a little south of you (Pauls Valley)for a while. If you're working that much, dry firing will be your biggest help. There's a couple places that make an adapter that allows your scope to focus at as little as 12 feet.
I've never owned a Savage, but shot several friends' rifles. I have been flirting with the brand for years... it's a good base.
