Dad passed a while back. While cleaning out his "stuff" found a lot of powder he had for years for his rifle, pistol, and shotgun reloading. Most had been opened along the way. What is shelf life on this stuff? Still had a lot of primers, too. Some tins opened, some still sealed.

Re: Old Powder

I wouldn't trust the powder for carry ammo, but for range time and plinking it should work just fine. The sealed cans would probably have the highest possibility of being in good shape, depending on where the powder was stored. Cool and dry, like inside an A/C house should keep the powder good for a while...outside in a garage will probably lower the life of the powder unless it's in a really dry climate.

Re: Old Powder

If stored in a climate controlled area, more than likly there ok powder and primers.

Do a search on old components change the date back 6 months. I've seen a good post on this that tells you what to look for.
