Hey guys thought I would ask a simple question before wasting a bunch of time preping some old brass. My question is I have alot of once fired remington brass (400-500)from my old 7rem mag, before I rebuilt it. They where Remington 140gr corelokts. Know I'm reloading Winchester brass with 180VLDs. Is it worth preping and reloading this brass, maybe not for precision LR(7-8-9-1000yd)shots but maybe for some 3-400yard shots?

what do you think?

Re: Once Fired Remington Brass

I generally stay away from Remington brass, but if you already have it and its fine, then use it. Just make sure that after you fire it a few times you check for loose primer pockets and enlarged flash holes.

Re: Once Fired Remington Brass

One thing I will say about remington brass is that the quality doesn't seem up to par with other manufacturer's brass such as federal or winchester.

I reload for .308 and the RP marked brass is showing signs of case head separation by the third reload, where as the other brass I am using doesn't show signs yet.

Re: Once Fired Remington Brass

I just threw away 6 out or 20 RP cases, after the third loading the primer pockets were too loose to be safe, and 2 of them had very enlarged flash holes, like I said, just make sure to check them for these things after a few loading and you should be fine.

Use it by all means. I use it in .223 .300 WM and .260 and get at least MOA accuracy at 1K (800 for .223) if not better. I still prefer Lapua but RP brass can be made to shoot.
