Open up barrel channel on Manners carbon shell

I'm new to Manners stock, always used McMillan. I cut, grind McM stock like tofu. Can I do the same on Manners without damaging the stock? specifically I need to open up barrel channel on an Elite Tac stock. Or I should just get Manners to do the work instead...
