Gunsmithing Opening up AICS for Badger lug

Any issues with opening up the recoil lug slot on the AICS to accept a Badger lug? My rifle has a Badger lug (0.312) and the slot is 0.250). It's also taller than the standard lug. I don't want to screw up a $1100 stock to accommodate a $40 lug. Should I change the lug or go ahead and have my smith open it up? Will it weaken the chassis or is it good to go?

I opened up all mine for my lugs .330 but I mill the lug shorter so I don't have to go deeper into the stock

Open the front part of the lug cutout on the chassis only. I also mill the bottom of the lug instead of the chassis

I normally mill the lug shorter. Once I milled the chassis a little deeper and it worked fine.

Move the FRONT of the recess in the chassis forward without touching the back. Remove material from the bottom of the lug, not the recess in the chassis.
