Gunsmithing Opening up bolt face

I am looking to open up a standard bolt face to a magnum bolt face. I have read were people will open it up and then solder in a bushing, then open it up again. I can see if you were trying to go smaller on bolt face size, but going bigger I don't see a need for the bushing. Can you just open it up and call it good?

Also if the bolt is already cut for an m16 extractor, do you just swap it out for a magnum size extractor and all is well?
