I've worked out a deal to buy a litely used(75-100 rounds down barrel) one for 600$ canadian, their $839 brand new up here at the cheapist place online. Just wondering what your opinions are, or have I gone wrong and should have just picked up a new sps tactical for 650$?

Re: Opinion on Savage 10pc

I bought one about three weeks ago for hunting and I am very pleased with it so. It will shoot a five shot .5moa group at 100 yards, and I dialed in my elevation the other day to 400 yards, and it kept .75moa out to 400, and I'm not the greatest marksman either. I love the accutrigger on it, I'm sure its not the best in the world, but it is hands down the smoothest and lightest trigger right out of the box that I have ever pulled. The camo on the stock is very prone to scratching, but, its a cheap stock, so be it. All in all I am very pleased with mine. I did shoot some the other day and had some diagonal stringing. I thought it was the scope but have narrowed it down to the barrel getting hot. After I let the gun cool for an hour, it was right back to .5 moa. I will change out the barrel whenever I get some money. Anyways, hope you enjoy yours.

Sounds like a descant deal. It will shoot good for you and has several good features. I definitely agree dumbbell, ditch the stock for a Bell and Carlson or Choate if you are on a budget. And then get a lot of ammo to start shooting.
