Hi all
I have just acquired an RPA STBY in 7.62 ( .308win) which has a 19" barrel and is very accurate with right load.!!!
I put a few rounds through on sunday which were left over from my Unique Alpine TPG-1 rifle and these were keyholing at 100m ( 5 rounds 2 overlapping holes ). I think the rounds were 168ish amax moly ( would have to go back through books to check ) and were made up for me as a trial by a company now out of business so no load data!!! :-(
Today i put 40 rounds of Privi Partisan 168gr Win match ammo through and got about a 7-10moa difference in elevation ie needed to input extra. Also the spread was 2 or 3 touching then 1 or 2 flyers which i put down to heads being naff as far as BC goes.
I went and got another load of 168gr rounds with Sierra Match King heads and these performed much better but still only grouped at about 1/2"-3/4" at 100m.
I'm thinking that maybe 168 molys are the way to go and work up a good load to suit the rifle.
I was wondering if anyone has used a short barrel like this or can suggest a good load to suit??
The rifling is a 1in10.

Best Rgds
