Rifle Scopes Opinions on Leupy Sequoia 20-60x80 spotting scope?

I have heard mixed reviews.
IMO there are competitor brands out there that offer more for the same or less price.
For example check out opticsplantet and look at their best buys for a given price range. Then check which hide vendor offers the scope your interested and go with that.
I would be inclided to look the following
$300 or less - Vortex
$400 or less - Bushnell Excursion
If you have the money Nikon Fieldscope ED are great. Pentax also get some ok reviews.
Spotters are tricky. You can spend big $$$ and still not get the greatest in optical clarity at high magnification.

got the 20x60x60 vortex nomad and so far really pleased with it. compared to the leupy spoter my freind has it is better than his dont know what model he has though

Bought the Leupy Green Ring Sequoia spotter (made in Korea) and could not resolve 22 caliber holes at 100 yards and barely would resolve 30 caliber holes. Sent it back to Leupold after taking to them. They offered me an upgrade to a Gold Ring 15-30X50 kit for $30 which I accepted. Even though it was lower power resolution and clarity was excellent and am able to resolve 22 caliber holes at 100 yards. Maybe the one I had was the exception but I have read many similar complaints about the sequoia line. Save your money.

You can expect to return it or use it as a Target ! Don't buy it you will be disappointed.glass is terrible.been there and regreted it.

i gotta go with DMG on this one. the Konus are excellent for the price. Very clear all the way up to 60x....some say they aren't a true 60x but it's up there enough and it's plenty clear. Then you can take the money you're saving and get a better tripod for it.

Utterly useless above 20x. Substandard glass even at lowest power. I can't believe how bad mine was, I dumped it without ever using it for hunting.

I have to agree with the general consensus of this thread. Brought mine from Cabela's a couple of years ago and its crap. I have an old pair of Nikon 7-15x32 bino's that are better than this spotting scope. Lets put it this way, the tripod that came with it is worth more then the scope in my opinion.
For $500 bucks or whatever it's going for now, I think you could do a lot better.
