Hey guys, i've been looking around and thinking of building a long-distance bolt rifle. I want to stick with a .308 platform. The rifle i'm shooting now is:

Rem 700 AAC
AAC Brakeout
Timney Trigger set at 2.5lbs
Choate Tactical Stock
Weaver 4-20x50
Seekins Low Rings
Nightforce 20MOA Base

At the moment i'm more than happy with how the rifle shoots (consistant .5 MOA groups every range session with 168 SMK FGMM)but i'm slightly worried about its long-range capability. From what i've been reading, people have been saying at 800-1000 yards i'd really be pushing it with a 20" barrel, but the same amount of people are saying with the proper load developed it should be easily attainable.

This brought me to think about building another rig for long distance shooting. I was looking around at various rifles and pretty much settled on the 700 SPS-V. I like the heavier barrel contour, and the 1:12" twist rate, as well as the 26" barrel length. I obviously plan on changing the stock on it to an HS precision/McMillan so i'm not worried about the crappy stock it comes with. Also i plan on changing the trigger to a Timney.

Now with this barrel length and twist rate, would i be more than capable of pushing out to 1000 yards, or could i get away with buying another 20" rifle? Sorry for all the questions, i'm still new to the whole long range shooting thing (past 300 yards). What would you guys recommend? Thanks for your time.
