Bet it happens lots of times off camera. It can even happen with robots.

Marines are human... despite their press-releases.

The guys in that line are superhuman at a level that most of us mortals can barely comprehend.

But you throw a rifle a million times and drop it once... they remember the once.

Outstanding, Marines! We won't hold a single Oppsie against ya!

Brings back memories. I was on a competition drill team in ROTC in high school. It was a lot of fun. We did many hours of drill practice and lots of rifle throws, I never dropped one but came close. Competition day was always intense.

He doesn't say anything. They are silent.

The have a drill to correct the operational errors in the show that in it self is impressive and professional.
We watched them at 8th & I for the 25 year reunion of the Beirut Vets.
Words do not describe what you see, you just have to see it in person.
I'd never be one because I hated drill

The Commandant came out and spoke to us afterwards.

i remember that clip that rifle was in pieces when he gave it back completely rooted

Those rifles are heavily modified.

They sand the wrists down completely removing the pistol grip. There is not much wood there.

Other parts are missing/unserviceable that makes them non functional for the most part.

Was at Evening Parade a few years ago and the Marines hang after the show for meet and great.

Great how forthcoming they were with info. L/Cpl I was talking to handed me his Garand let me check it out. 2 mil serial number WWII era. Lots of black electrical tape holding sling together and missing parts like stacking swivel, sights. I cant imagine they see much bore cleaning.

Everyone desires a legit USMC provenance Garand but these certified Marines would be unshootable as is.

I don't doubt you at all, but the ones we used were not that way. The barrels were welded but otherwise they were the read deal and heavy as hell. You sure didn't want to miss a catch when it's coming at your face LOL.

Even with the work Garand metal is pretty heavy. Think as issued they are 10 pounds so sand off a pistol grip maybe you make it 9.5 pounds now. Its no light weight and much respect to you guys that tossed them around.

There are two differing groups of Marine at 8th and I. Marching Platoons and Silent Drill.

Marching Platoon seems to have as issued stocks with lots of linseed oil.

Check out the video above you can see at the wrist those stocks have no pistol grip. They almost appear to be 1903 straight stocks.

Yeah, the M-14's we had in High School MCJROTC were demilled, but otherwise functional (missing the selector lever only).

As to the M-1's, the ones used for military funerals are fully serviceable (hence having to manually cycle for each of the three barrages). Yeah, I did military burials and funerals for about 6 months; an interesting experience, for sure.
