Rifle Scopes Optic advice -- for German friend...

German friend of mine e-mailed me from Charlotte, NC this morning. He'es over on a trip and wants to buy an optic while he is here.

It will be for hunting wild boar in Germany. He wants something that is fast on target. Mentioned Aimpoint... I am trying to find out more now about what rifle it would go on, available mounts, etc. Personally, coming from Germany, I would think he could find a superb optic there, but maybe they don't have some of the same choices we have in terms of reflex type scopes.

Also, I mentioned to him that there are ITAR export restrictions on a lot of the red dot type optics... that he needs to be sure when he buys any kind of a scope or optic, that it is not restricted as far as taking it home to Germany. I know Trijicons, some Aimpoints, EoTech, etc. are definitely on the no-no list.

I am not all that up on the latest in red dot or hunting optics... or on what is ITAR these days. So any thoughts that I can pass on are appreciated!

And if you have recommendations on good gun shops or places in the Charlotte area to purchase a scope... appreciated as well!

Cheers,

Sirhr

I would think something in the 1-4 range, from S&B, Steiner, Nickel would be nice, isn't Aimpoint a Swedish company perhaps the taxes and prices are driving his choice to buy in the US.
