Going to be purchasing a 375 ruger shortly. Will be used for shots from 25- 250 yards. I have been thinking about 1-8, 1-10, 2-12 type optics.

I don’t have much experience with big bore optics. What will hold up to that type of recoil. Would like to be around 1500 or less budget. Unless Cabela’s has it then could use my points lol.

Morning,

I have a 375 Ruger myself. at the moment it has a 1.5-6x42 Schmidt i had in my safe. i would probably pick the scope based on the game and the location I was planning on hunting. Over the years i've set a lot of 375 h&h and 375 rugers up with around the same magnification range you have in mind generally trying to keep eye relief and field of view in mind. some will be above price point, but hey maybe it'll be some food for thought. I'll list a couple of scopes ive been considering below;

https://cstactical.com/swarovski-z8i-1-7-13-3x42-4a-if-68202/ - I like this one. I set a few hunters up with the old Swarovski z6 and z6i for Alaska after Brown bear and moose. while i like a true 1x for dangerous game, you still have good fov and eye relief and mag to reach out if you need to.

https://cstactical.com/swarovski-z8i-1-8x24-brt-i-68702/ - considered this too for obvious reasons

The Swarovski's usually have generous mounting space which is good because mounting options with a ruger are limited.

Zeiss makes some nice low powered optics in the V8 line that are nice, but I don't have as much experience with them. the old victory line always worked well. I even had one guy use an old conquest 3-9x40, but i'd probably prefer to stick with something 2x or less on the low end.

A buddy of mine's dad ran an older Leupold 2-12 to Africa a few times and took cape buffalo and some various plains game, so they hold up

I have had a few guys set up with accupoints and they've been pretty happy

I'd love to set some time to discuss and talk what your planning to hunt with your 375 and what loads are working well for you. I have some Hornady factory ammo at the moment that seem to be working well enough. I wish Ruger had a little more accommodating mounting system, but I was happy to get mine as i'm a lefty and dangerous game rifles in LH haven't been easy to come by.
