Claremore, ok
Hey guy I did some trading and ended up with a nice Remington 700 chambered in 300 whisper to go with my AAC Cyclone. I am in need of a good scope and base. I am leaning EGW 30 moa base just to help me get out there a little ways with the 220g and 240g at sub sonic speeds. As for the scope I have two in mind the Weaver 3-10 mil/mil and the Falcon 1.5-5 mil/mil. I would like to go mil/mil as I plan on using this as a make shift trainer to help me get used to a mil/mil set up I just got a NXS 5.5-22 HS MLR/mil for the 260.

Thanks in advance guys.
Dustin

That NF has 100 MOA of adjustment! It's gotta be one BIG tube to offer a significant more than that! A custom USO with a 34mm or 35mm tube? One of the new IOR's with a 40mm tube?

At what range are you running out?

I have the EGW 30moa base on my whisper and the 2-10 IOR. Have run it to 300 only and had more dial left. I can also utlize the 15 mils in the reticle if I run out of ele.

nice rifle there!

Re: Optics for a 300 whisper

I like the power and the reviews of the Weaver but the falcon has a nicely set up reticle that would work good for the hogs I just wish it had a little more top end power.

Re: Optics for a 300 whisper

great fun can be had eating lunch while waiting for your bullet when shooting long range with a whisper. I have shot steel out to 800 with my 300 and it is more fun than most will ever experience. That said few scopes with reasonable price tabs had sufficient elevation to allow you to really reach out. I have used NF and USO along with many others but am going to give something new a try as soon as it arrives....I have ordered a Sightron 16x42. While it does not do everything I would like it does have 150 moa of adjustment so for the whisper what I am looking for most. They also make it in a 10x if you wanted a little less magnification. Now I just have to decide if I will try it out on the 300 or my 510...decisions decisions lol

Boy I can't wait for mine to be done.

I am putting a Nightforce 3.5-15x50 with a 20 moa base on mine when its finished.

Re: Optics for a 300 whisper

All this Whisper talk is killing me! I've been sitting on my 510 in a Mcree Chassis system for months now....waiting on the damn paperwork for the can to clear to the guy I'm buying it from...then waiting for it to paper to me!

Going to pick up some blue tips and heavy ball projo's at the 'creek in a couple of weeks. I guess I could shoot it now, but I'll wait for the can....big honker too. 1.75 x 16! Not sure what I'm going to scope it with. Was looking at a Konus, but I'm going to check out the Sightron mentioned above.

Re: Optics for a 300 whisper

I have been using a 16x Mark 4 on a 45 MOA base. I'm going to be switching soon to a Leupold ultralight 2.5x20 with an M1 turret on the elevation (147 MOA travel).

I would also think the 6 and 10 power SS scopes would be perfect. I don't remember exactly how much elevation the 6x had, and I didn't verify it by observing reticle movement, but turning the turrets stop to stop gave something like 160+ MOA. I know the 10's are good for at least 130 MOA.
