Just picked up my new stick over the weekend and I'm shopping around for optics. Anywhere from 400-700 or so right now, just not flush with cash at the moment. Looked at the Bushnell Elites and some of the Nikon Monarchs...anything else I should check out? Oh, looked over some of the Weavers as well but don't know much about them. This is gonna be going on an F-T/R class 308 and not a hunting rifle. I'm all ears...errr...eyes..on here.

I generally don't put scopes on sticks....I only put them on rifles

ssfeu, take a good look at a Vortex Viper. They are $399 from SWFA or LibertyOptics. Both are hide sponsers.

It is a very decent starting scope and you can eventually move to a nightforce from there. Both the Vortex Viper and Nightforce NXS have 30mm tubes so your rings will be interchangeable. Just buy good rings now.

Seekins Precision, Badger, or something like that.

Re: Optics Suggestions for New Stick

If you can increase your budget a bit go with a Zeiss Conquest with a Z-800 reticle. I owned one and regret giving it up. It is so clear and Zeiss has their own ballistics chart so you can match the reticle to your ammo. If not I also had a Nikon Monarch with a Mil Dot and that got the job done very well. You might want to look into the Leupold Mark AR line or if you don't need a Mil Dot type reticle go for a Leupold VX-III with a duplex and you won't regret that either.
