Has anyone ran into feeding issues opening a SA Origin to accept Wyatt's extended box?

Specifically, my rifle will be chambered in 6.5prc and I just want to make sure I won't cause feeding problems doing so. I recall another member who did this, but I can't find the thread where he mentions it.

I've contacted LRI and they will be doing the work.

Thanks

I'm running that exact setup. Had to do some light filing in the area where they milled open for the box, but otherwise Wyatt's has the extended box and a follower specific to the round. Just put in your order notes that you want the PRC follower. Feeding is pretty good and very smooth. Sometimes when I load 3 down that first round doesn't always present high enough. Ive been fiddling with the follower spring for that though and have it pretty close. If you don't mind tinkering a bit I think you'll be happy with.

Feel free to PM me if you have problems or need help.

did chad at LRI not have the answer?

in one of the origin threads @BigHorn / ZAI Team posted the bottom of the actions comparing Origin for aics/bdl to TL3 aics

It was via email with a fella who works there, I didn’t speak directly with Chad. To be honest, it hadn’t even occurred to me that it may be an issue at that point. I just wanted to know if they’d take the job. It’ll be worth a call to see if he has any insight before sending it in.

Thanks for commenting, I believe it was your post I originally saw. Was not aware they had a PRC specific follower as I ordered the box from redhawk rifles. I’ll give them a shout tomorrow and see if I can get one on the way.

I had Altus chamber mine with .140 freebore and plan on handloading 140 Bergers. I’m wondering if I even need the extended box with a shorter freebore? Any thoughts on that?

I'd load up a dummy round and see where you're at overall length-wise. I like the extended box in case I ever had to buy ammo while hunting. They only had the short action when I built mine. By the time you have it opened up for the box, may be cheaper to just go LA depending on your intended use.

I also already had my action in hand when they announced the LA. My purpose and goal with the build was a super lightweight mountain rifle so going with SA shaved a few more ounces and I don’t regret it (at least for now anyway.)
