WOW!...I posted on firingline forum the other day when someone asked about "Barrel Break-in". My post was the usual "It's a waste of time and ammo and barrel" response I've come to embrace. Apparently, there's a guy over there called "Scorch" that is old and knowledgeable and everyone on that site thinks he knows everything. He... being the end-all expert proceeded to put me in my place by explaining how Gale McMillan's write-up about barrel break-in was simply Gale's opinion and it was most likely wrong in his estimation (It must be wrong because other Barrel Makers put Break-in instructions in with their barrels too). I tried to explain how Mr. McMillan spoke directly to the Barrel Maker who first started putting Break-in instructions in with his barrels in the interest of selling more barrels. There's been a nice little barrage of responses about how I'm just ignorant and this "Scorch" fella has held more barrels in a year than I have in my entire life. Do these guys live with me? No... How do you figure they could possibly know what I've done? I don't know...
I think I'll just stop trying to pass along some of the wisdom I've gained by reading and researching and actually testing to the people on that forum since Scorch knows it all. I guess I should have known not to venture away from my Tribe...
End of Rant
PS: If Scorch is an "Elder" here too I hope I didn't over-step my bounds. I tried to be as PC as I could given the fact that we disagree and all...
