Im pretty new here but have been lurking for a little while and finally registered up. I have owned a Canadian Inglis Boys Anti Tank Rifle (converted to 50bmg) for several years. It has been a fun firearm to bring out and let people shoot over the years. The rifle is really beautifully made and an unusual design. The barreled action rides in a chassis with a spring designed to buffer the recoil. The bipod is heavily spiked to lock the chassis into the ground. It has the second type muzzle brake and the whole system makes for a fairly pleasant rifle to fire. Ive had a lot of youth fire it and come up smiling(one 16yr old 100lb girl). The sights are offset because of the magazine protruding up from the action and they are non adjustable. There were extra front and rear sights available of different heights and windages that were meant to be changed for zero. Overall a beautiful rifle of the old school. I recently decided that I would like to have a rifle that was more portable and better capable of percision shooting. After a lot of research I found a DTA HTI and at a price I couldnt pass up. I bought it and put the Boys up for auction to help pay for the HTI. I bought a Springfield Armory Gen 3 4-16x56 scope probably 10 yrs ago in anticipation of buying a 50 some day. I bought it because it was rated for the 50, FFP reticle and it has an internal bubble level. It is a pretty neat scope but in the mean time Springfield no longer makes it and I am uncertain if they will honor the Lifetime warranty. In light of this I started looking for a 34mm main tube scope to use in the excellent DTA scope mount Primal Rights ? Primal Rights -- Desert Tech - 1-Piece Scope Mount It has an internal bubble level and I got the 40 MOA version. I finally decided on the Steiner 5-25 Military Scope with the interesting MSR reticle. I ordered one from Scott at Liberty Optics Contact Us for a really good price (call him, he really gives a great price but only by phone) and am patiently waiting its delivery.

How do you like the HTI ? The first 50bmg I shot was a converted Boys rifle. I was twelve and shooting my .22 lr never cut the mustard after that.
I'm also saving for an HTI and would like to know how the recoil is.

Well, I havent wanted to shoot it until I have my new steiner. It costs too much to plink the beast. I have only fired it once. I wanted to see what it was like offhand. I got into a tight stance with my left elbow tucked into my ribs and supporting hand under the triggerguard. The recoil wasnt too bad, I didnt step back and probably the most noticeable discomfort was the skin on my face where touching the stock got pushed back towards my ear and kind of made my nose feel like it got lightly slapped. The only other time it was fired in my presence was my retired Marine cousin who is a pretty big guy, he shot it standing with the rifle on a bench. He leaned down and had his upper body almost prone behind the rifle. His first comment was "ouch" and he said that 2 or 3 rounds is all he would want to shoot quickly in that rifle. The recoil is definitely more than the Boys. I will give a good range report when I get my Steiner and sight it in. Having said all that, this video shows a girl shooting it and she seems to handle it well.
