this may be posted already, but if it hasn't....

to shoot on a public Pa. game commission shooting range, you will need either a valid hunting license or a new range permit.

1. to generate income for the maintenance of ranges.

2. it's fairer to the guy that buys a hunting license - his hunting license fees pay for the gamelands. since the ranges are on gamelands, his hunting license fees helps to pay for stuff that needs to be maintained at the ranges. one that does not hunt but shoots gets to use the very amenities that is provided to him by the guy that buys a license.

3. if you already have a hunting license ($20.70) adult resident, you do not need a range permit ($30.00). if you do not have a hunting license currently but want to get one as it is cheaper, and never had a hunting license before, you will have to attend Hunter / Trapper education course.

4. a range permitee or person holding a hunting license can have one guest.

5. under the age of 16 do not have to have either licenses / permits.

To obtain a range permit

There are several options to purchase a range permit.

OPTION 1:

1. Presently, go to the Pa. Game Commission web site - http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/pgc/9106

2. On the home page, look to the right in the “Quick clicks” section, click on “Public Shooting Ranges”

3. There is an embedded link in the text, click on “ an annual $30 range use permit”, that will take you to another page that has “Buy a State Game Lands Shooting Range Permit”, and fill in the information.

OPTION 2:

1. Presently, go to the Pa. Game Commission website - http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/pgc/9106

2. In the header information, put cursor on General Store, Click on “visit the outdoor shop” in the drop down.

3. Follow directions for OPTION 3 below.


OPTION 3:

1. You can go directly to The Outdoor shop, (http://www.theoutdoorshop.state.pa.us/fbg/).

2. Click on the Pa. Game Commission outdoor shop.

3. Click on “Permits” in the header information.

4. Click on the “Shooting Range Permit”.

5. Fill in the information


OPTION 4:

1. Go directly to https://www.theoutdoorshop.state.pa.us/FBG/game_secured/RangePermit.asp, fill in the information, submit and print permit.
