I figured I would make this public rather than PM since others may find this helpful.

918V mentioned sometime ago on the old site about "waxing" his cases for bullet seating lube, particularly helpful for stainless tumbled brass. For my stainless tumbled brass, the necks won't let any graphite adhere for lube prior to bullet seating, and testing is showing me that dipping the tail of the bullet in graphite prior to seating still has my SD's and groups larger than I want, and larger than my practice brass that I just tumble in corn cob and reload. I have large batches of annealed and stainless tumbled brass I want to load, and the waxing procedure has my interest. Yet I have also seen when searching the web that car wash soap (which was what 918V described he uses) the ammonia reacts with the brass negatively, but haven't seen much mentioned on that topic. I trust 918V has his waxing procedure down pat, and would like to hear his actual recipe (parts of soap per amount of water) and discuss this topic a bit more in depth.

For my application, I am loading .308 FGMM clones in Federal brass that I have annealed and stainless tumbled. The waxing procedure would speed up my loading process, and might fix my neck tension issues.

Thanks.

I'm doing similar to what he's using.

meguiars ultimate wash and wax.

what I do is after I'm done cleaning I let my cases soak in that with hot water for a few minutes then take it out and let it air dry.

seems to work well and no issues with groups.

I still lube my case necks with a spray lube calld
NDL 360 prior to bullet seating

Cool, thanks for the info. So do you have a specific amount of the soap you could suggest to add to say, a gallon of water? I just want to be consistent for each time I do it.

I checked out that NDL 360, looks neat. I tried to get on the waiting list but it looks like there is some issue with the site.

For the NDL 360 Go to Carolina first defense and buy from them

For the wax, just pour a couple glugs.

get liberal if you want.

the slightly slimy waxy feeling when they dry is okay. Smokeless powder sticking shouldn't be an issue
