I see alot of threads here about how to paint an so on. I sometimes see the how to remove paint here and there and from what I have seen the majority say to use acetone. Well I was one to search the how to paint and did such with krylon. I also was one to look to see how to remove it and tried acetone. Well it works but while I was a Wal-Mart with the wife I was looking for a gel type stripper (the acetone evaporates too quickly). I took a 7 dollar gamble and went with an aerosol can of Citristrip. It said safe for indoor use, no harsh fumes, blah blah blah.

So I get home and not wanting start with the barreled action right off the bat I decided to hit the base and rings. I put them in a tupperware container coated it with the spray (its not a thick gel but not really too watery). I then left it to do other chores. I came back about an hur later and the paint damn near wiped clean off the base. It took Q-tips to get the groves but a total of 10 minutes was spent getting paint off my base. Now it looks like it never was painted. So far this stuff is impressing me and I will post up pics of the whole rifle after its done.

EDIT: I sprayed the end of the barrel before I started typing this and went back before I hit submit to wipe it off. This is the barrel.

Re: Paint Removal (Pics)

On my humble Falcon it has done a rather nice job. I taped up the ends just to keep the spray off the glass. I sprayed some in a cup and applied by hand. I had to let it sit for awhile and then wiped it off. There is residue left and I havnt finished the whole scope. I plan on wiping it over with acetone after it is all said and done.
