JMC,

No particular pattern, if you look close, you can see the primary colors (OD & Khaki). Alternated from front to rear OD & Khaki base, followed up by splotching the OD with Khaki and vice versa. Then splotched in a little brown and black for good measure. Gonna give her a 24 hour dry time and use a light coat of satin polyurethane to make her a little more durable.

Re: Painted the old 700

Thanks a lot, I'm going to try mine then as soon as I get a chance. I'm going to try it on my Rem Model 7 first because it's kind of my go to hunting/ beater rifle. I'm slowly trying to get a 700 done in 260 Remington but with work and money being tight it is taking a lot longer to get all the pieces together than I had hoped it would.

So in the mean time I'm going to play with model 7, and maybe my Savage in 223 if the 7 turns out.

How well does it hold up with the polyurethane covering it?
Thanks

JMC,

Give it a whirl, good thing about the "rattle can" method, if you don't like it you can easily re-do it. As for the polyurethane, it helps a bit with wear. No spray on finish is gonna stand up unscathed with field use, they all wear. The spray on poly will help and give it another layer to wear thru. Like I said, try it and don't look back. If you aren't happy with the end result, a litle acetone and you are good as new.
