I have a SS 10x42 with side parallax adjuster. If I move my head behind the scope I see the reticles shifting on the target (100yds) by as much as 3 inches. I have the parallax set to 100. I am not able to adjust this "shift" away. I had a friend look through the scope and he said he does not see the shift. I wear glasses and he does not. Are my glasses causing me to see the shift?

Any other suggestions?

The answer to your glasses question is no. If you see reticle shift due to parallax it will be there regardless of whether you have glasses or not. I have glasses and if I dial out the parallax the reticle will not move in relation to the target.

If you have the parallax knob adjusted at 100y you should not see a 3 inch shift at 100y. There are a couple of reasons the adjustment is off but unless I see the scope its hard for me to say why? If you are good working with your hands and have some understanding of how the scope works you can actually fix it yourself (I did a write up on how to fix the issue for another member a while back--I'll see if I can find it). Or if you want you can always send it back to the manufacturer for them to fix.

Re: Parallax question

Yeah sounds great please post the link. One more question. Should the side parallax adjuster act like a focus knob? When I turn it back and forth the scope gets clear then blurry at the far end.

Thanks...

A properly adjusted scope will come into focus at the correct parallax adjustment. But do not rely on the focus to determine if your parallax adjustment is set for the distance of your target. Move your head up and down and side to side to determine if parallax has been eliminated at set distance. I will PM you the fix once I find the tutorial I wrote up. I don't want mechanically challenged people who probably should not be tinkering with their scopes to mess up their scopes trying to follow what I have written in the tutorial.

Re: Parallax question

OK I thought I would post what the cause was. I had screwed the diopter back about 1/2 way (not half a turn) to adjust for my bad right eye. This adjustment was messing things up. I screwed the diopter in to zero and I have no parallax now.

That was easy.

Thanks for the help. I did not need to do the exit glass adjustment after the diopter was zeroed.

Thanks again.
