I have a pbr I've been wanting to build up. I got a McMillan a3 stock that's supposed to be inletted for an spr thinking that they would be the same, but when I tried putting my bottom metal in the front mounting hole it didn't fit and to make it worse when I took it to the smith he said it can't be milled more. He said it is inletted for a Winchester which confused me even more.I looked at maybe aftermarket metal but don't know if that would work either. Any help or clarification would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of bottom metal?

If you have the PBR, it came with the DBM. If your inlet is for an SPR, it could be either a DBM/TBM or a hinged floorplate. Winchesters almost all came with the hinged floorplate. Even in hinged floorplates, there has been small changes to the radius of the front part of the bottom metal. FNH hinged floorplates have always been a single piece, where the Winchester has had two-piece and single piece.

The receivers will be very close to the same, if it is short action.

Pictures would certainly help.
