PCU jackets vs old style ECWCS

hey yall
i got a lead on a PCU jacket at a little less than half price but was wondering if its worth dropping the coin on this or not. is it that much better than the old ecwcs gore tex outer shell jacket that use all the time???

I wasn't a huge fan of ecwcs, it was noisy and when it was really wet the water came in through the material or the stitching. Wasn't terribly breathable for non stationary use.
